Aims

It is now a clear requirement for those training others in all areas of the construction industry to have a firm grounding in sustainability and how it affects the design, construction and operation of new and existing buildings.

This Level 4 Certificate at the new SusCon centre provides a comprehensive basis for teachers and trainers who need to embed sustainability into the curriculum of what they already teach. It covers the origins of sustainability as well as current drivers, legislation and environmental assessment methods which affect all building projects in the UK.

Course content

This is a five-day course designed specifically for those involved in delivering training who require a wide coverage of all key principles of sustainable building.

Philosophies of sustainable development
Climate Change adaptation and mitigation
Energy in Buildings
Sustainable Resources: Water, Biodiversity and Materials
Waste Management
Relevant legislation: Town Planning and Building Regulations
Environmental Assessment Methods: Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM
How to teach a variety of elements of the sustainable building curriculum.
